A WiTricity acredita que os fios eléctricos para "alimentar" computadores e outros equipamentos possam acabar dentro de cinco anos.
A grande aposta da WiTricity é a alimentação eléctrica sem fios. A empresa acredita que, dentro de um ano, este tipo de tecnologias vai estar em força no mercado.

O CEO da empresa, Eric Giler, vai mesmo ao ponto de afirmar que dentro de cinco anos já não haverá fios para alimentação eléctrica, fazendo-se tudo através de dispositivos sem fios.

A WiTricity desenvolveu uma tecnologia que funciona com campos magnéticos, para passar energia de um lado para outro. Há alternativas como a da Powercast que transmite pequenas quantidades de energia para grandes distâncias.

O Palm Pre pode ser recarregado também sem fios, através de power pads. Esta tecnologia tem a desvantagem de ser necessário os equipamentos estarem bastante próximos. Pela positiva, tem custos reduzidos e é, segundo a empresa, extremamente eficiente.
