A Microsoft reconheceu a existência de uma falha de segurança no Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 e Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC), que pode permitir que hackers controlem os computadores remotamente. A vulnerabilidade foi descoberta na segunda-feira por um investigador.

O bug está no componente Server Message Block 2 (SMB2) e permite que «um cracker possa controlar completamente a máquina dominada», esclareceu a empresa. «A maioria dos ataques, porém, vai fazer com que o computador apenas se reinicie sozinho», continuou a gigante de informática, que só deve divulgar uma correcção para o problema no lote de actualizações de Outubro.

As versões XP e 2000 não são afectadas pelo problema, assim como a versão RTM do Windows 7, que foi enviada para os fabricantes de computadores.
